City of Brass is a first-person adventure game with an Arabian Nights theme and roguelite elements. City of Brass was notably developed by Uppercut Games, a studio comprised of people who previously worked on the BioShock franchise. City of Brass has a reputation for being a notoriously difficult game, and that along with some other issues earned it mixed reviews from critics when it first launched in 2018.

The other Epic Games Store free game for March 31 is a much different story, as Total War: Warhammer earned critical acclaim when it launched in 2016. As its name suggests, Total War: Warhammer combines the acclaimed Total War strategy game franchise with the Warhammer fantasy setting. Strategy game fans could easily sink hundreds of hours into Total War: Warhammer, and that combined with its high review scores make it one of the more notable free Epic Games Store games of 2022 so far.
There should be plenty more free games for Epic Games Store users to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Epic confirmed that the Epic Games Store free games will continue throughout 2022, so while it remains to be seen if the program will return next year, users have months of free titles ahead of them.
Besides the weekly Epic Games Store free games, it’s likely that Epic will bring back its countdown promotions where it gives away daily free mystery games to promote its summer and winter sales. Specifics on those sales have not been announced at the time of this writing, but details should come to light later this year.
