To nobody’s surprise, Netflix continues to show its strength over the competition in this pound per pound power ranking. While that last part isn’t new at all, Netflix executives will find comfort in having two company produced properties owning the top 2 spots, considering their previous domination was mostly down to content that was acquired, rather than being network originals.
That trend hasn’t faded completely, with Ratched and Enola Holmes being the sole two passing the 1,000 million minutes mark, followed by now ranking mainstays like The Blacklist, The Office, Schitt’s Creek, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Cobra Kai and Lucifer. The Canadian sitcom’s breakthrough into the top 10 comes as the biggest news, after Schitt’s Creek swept the Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
With other platforms’ heavy hitters currently on break, Netflix’s ranking dynasty will see the biggest threat so far come from The Mandalorian, which is scheduled to debut its second season next week on October 30. Previously, Disney’s Mulan had managed to sneak a spot in the top 10, so it’s safe to say The Mandalorian is going to be up there, the only question is how big its numbers will be.
Ratched and Enola Holmes are currently streaming on Netflix.
